Cherokee Animal Clinic began as a 1200 square foot building in November1964. It was founded by Dr. William Murray, a sole practioner. Dr. Richard Branson joined Dr. Murray in 1970, and eventually purchased the practice in 1984. Dr. Branson ran Cherokee as the sole owner until July 2005, when Dr. James Kontras and Dr. Mike Stenstrom purchased it.

Cherokee Animal Clinic has seen many transformations. In 1988, Dr. Branson added the "dog clinic" side, an 1800 sq. foot addition. Then, in 1994, Cherokee Cat Clinic was added, to create the entire clinic as it stands today. Within these walls are housed a dog kennel, a grooming area, a cat kennel, a AAHA-approved surgical suite, a hospital ward, an intensive care ward, five exam rooms (3 dog, 2 cat), two pharmacies, two reception desks and two waiting rooms. We also offer a garden settee for those times when a peaceful place is needed to discuss serious medical issues or just to "stop and smell the flowers." All in all, we do our best to create a blend of modern technology and comfort, both for our pets and for our clients.
